Glee star Cory Monteith's death this weekend in Vancouver sent shockwaves around the world. Though we're still piecing together information about the 31-year-old actor's final days, In Touch can confirm that he was spotted out with friends in the city and in good spirits shortly before he passed away last weekend.
Cory and several friends stopped by Vancouver hotspot The Shop, which sells motorcycle gear and apparel as well as coffee and beer, shortly before he died. "Cory came in the Sunday before he died with a couple friends and they got some beers and just hung out for about 30 minutes. He seemed happy and healthy and there were no signals that anything bad was going on with him," an employee of The Shop told In Touch.
The employee added that Cory, despite his fame, was friendly and posing for pictures with locals.
"He and his friends were talking about the Fairmont Pacific Rim [the hotel where Monteith was staying, and where his body was discovered] and he just seemed like a normal dude. It's really sad and unexpected. One of my buddies is a photographer and took his photo when he was here. Who knew it would wind up being one of his last photos?"
Cory had been open about his previous struggles with substance abuse and had recently completed a stint in rehab with the encouragement of girlfriend and costar Lea Michele. At this point, no details have been released regarding the actor's cause of death.
