It has been almost four years since they were last officially seen together, but on Sept. 6, Rihanna and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown publicly reunited in front of a screaming crowd at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The couple shared a brief kiss during a break in the show when Rihanna, 24, walked over to Chris’ seat to say hello.
The "Umbrella" songstress, who opened the show with an energetic performance, then patted her former lover playfully on his head and headed back to her seat.
The couple, who dated from 2007 to 2009, have not had any official public contact since Feb. 2009 following a domestic violence incident during which Rihanna sustained extensive injuries.
Chris, 23, was arrested and charged with felony assault and sentenced to five years probation. Rihanna was also granted a five-year restraining order against the "Kiss Kiss" singer, but that was lifted at her request last year. She also recently discussed her relationship with Chris during an interview with Oprah, admitting she believed he is "the love of her life."
Chris took home the award for Best Male Video at the awards while Rihanna took home the coveted Video of the Year for "We Found Love."
