Britney Spears is back on the market!
After dating three years and being engaged for one, a rep for the star confirms her break up with fiancé Jason Trawick:
"Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement. As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
Britney stated: "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
Jason added: "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
Four months after Jason and Britney got engaged on his 40th birthday in December, Jason was added as co-conservator of Britney—which gave him the authority to make decisions about her general well-being. He has since resigned.
"The court accepts the resignation [of Trawick]," L.A. Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz stated in court Friday. The judge added that Britney's father, Jamie Spears, will still be "the sole conservator of her person."
Jamie has controlled his daughter and her multimillion-dollar empire since February 2008 after she suffered a very public breakdown.
It's been quite a rollercoaster week for the pop songstress, 31, who has two sons, Preston, 7, and Jayden, 6, with ex-hubby Kevin Federline. The same day news of her split broke, she also confirmed to In Touch that she would not be returning to X Factor next season. She also announced earlier this week that she's working on new music.
"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season," she told In Touch on Jan. 11. "I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it's time for me to get back in the studio. Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."
