Shayne Lamas: "Why I turned down a $70,000 makeover"
You may not recognize Shayne Lamas these days. Best known for winning Season 12 of The Bachelor, Shayne, 24, looks fitter and sexier than ever, and says she’s happy she chose not to go down the same surgical path as fellow blond bombshell Heidi Montag. “Dr. Ryan was a family friend of ours,” Shayne tells In Touch of the late Dr. Frank Ryan, the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who famously performed 10 surgeries on Heidi in one day. “I went to see him because I wanted a boob job, but he ended up telling me that I needed about $70,000 worth of work — thigh lipo, a butt lift, basically a whole body makeover — to turn me into the perfect Barbie doll. But I didn’t want to be a Barbie doll.”
About a week before Shayne was scheduled to get her breast augmentation with Dr. Ryan, she read about Heidi’s multiple surgeries and had second thoughts about going through with her own procedure. “It was absurd and I felt sick,” Shayne says. “She’s my age, and it was the same breakdown of what he wanted me to do. I was disturbed by it.” She adds she’s relieved she didn’t go to the extremes that Heidi did. “She probably wanted more and more, and it was publicity for both her and him,” she says of Dr. Ryan, who died in a car accident in Malibu on August 16. “But I think it was very irresponsible of him to do that. I’m reluctant to say that now that he’s resting in peace, but that’s how I feel.”
