Survivor's J.T.: "I feel like an idiot for trusting Russell"

jt_survivor.jpg James "J.T." Thomas is still a hero - and a winner - despite the fact that he has lost his chance at the $1 million prize for Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains in Samoa. As last season's last man standing, players and fans had faith that the Southern cutie would replay his win. But his ultra-controversial move to hand an immunity idol over to his rival, Russell Hantz, backfired. "I felt like if I give the idol away to save our tribe, I could trust them [the Villains] and they could trust me," J.T. tells In Touch. "Everyone was completely in agreement with the plan." But despite the unanimous coup, it was the man who hatched the plan who took the fall for all.

IT: Were you surprised about being eliminated?
JT: I was shocked actually, that was the first time I'd ever actually heard my name. We didn't expect for them to have two idols. But we'd [also] known for sure going into Tribal Council that Russell wasn't with us and I knew that I was top of the list.

IT: Why were you so quick to trust Russell though, knowing that he was on the Villains team?
JT: I definitely looked a little more confident last night than I felt on the show - but I never really trusted him. The main thing I wanted to do was get rid of the idol, then later it came to me that I would get Russell. After I gave Russell the idol I stared having doubts. I figured that Russell would probably vote Pavrati out just to get me to think that he's going along wit it - but he didn't.

IT: Now that you've watched Russell's season and he was like the worst villain ever, how did you feel now seeing that?
JT: Oh man, like an idiot! Coming on to the show I had no way of knowing all that and the second anyone on his tribe caught on he got rid of them before they could tell anybody, so he's done good covering himself up. But, by the end of the game people will be on to you. And if you make it to the end of the game playing that aggressively people are going to catch on sooner or later. I should've caught on.

IT: What did you think of Pavrati's move of pulling out with the two immunity idols? Were you impressed or surprised?
JT: I had no idea that she had pulled one over on Russell, that she had an idol that he didn't know about. And I think Pavarti was also responsible for actually determining to give the idol to Jerry.

IT: Who are you rooting for now?
JT: I'm rooting for Colby. Colby and Rupert were my guys when I left and those are the two I was rooting for.

IT: Would you do it again?
JT: In a heartbeat! I definitely wouldn't give my idol to Russell but I would love to go against him again.
