Bye, bye Aiden

Despite receiving higher scores than competitor Kate Gosselin, for his rumba on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars performance show, viewer votes were not enough to keep soap star Aiden Turner and his partner Edyta Sliwinska in the competition. The duo received 33 out of a possible 60 for their dance, one point more than Kate, yet she lives to dance another week. “It’s fate, and you can’t argue with that,” Aiden told In Touch after the announcement.

While the emotional actor admits he’ll miss his fellow competitors, he is looking forward to getting back to his acting day job and will be missed by his co-dancers. “He was such a genuine guy and so nice to have around,” admits Cheryl Burke. While fellow dancer Nicole Scherzinger laughs, “I’m putting it out there that he’s the next James Bond.”

Tune in next Monday night when the remaining couples will tackle dances with a movie theme.

Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska
Eliminated April 12

What do you think went wrong?
Aiden:
I don’t know? What can you do, it’s fate — and you cant argue with fate.
Edyta: We did have pretty low score, and the scores count. When you land second from the bottom, it’s tough to make it up with the viewer votes. We knew we might be eliminated, but it’s still hard and emotional, as you put so much work into it.

What will you miss most about the show?
Aiden:
Just being really busy and working hard. I love getting up in the morning and having an amazing purpose and love spending time with people. I am a people person and love developing relationships — and more dance moves! But I am looking forward to getting some sleep and rest — oh, and an hour-long bath!

Do you think your All My Children fans kept you in the competition?
Aiden:
Definitely! Without them I could have gone home the first week. It’s a shame I went tonight, as I thought I had a few weeks left in me and I was getting better — so Edyta says.
Edyta: But the judges didn’t think so. It’s unfortunate the minute he improves and feels more comfortable and enjoys it, we get eliminated. The judges didn’t give him a chance to spread his wings.
Aiden: They were bullies last night. Usually the criticism is helpful, but not Monday night — they had nothing nice to say.

How different was the experience to what you anticipated?
Aiden:
It was a lot more emotionally exhausting that I thought. You run out of physical energy, but then I found myself going home being emotionally drained. But I love acting and my job, and I'm looking forward to getting back to it — I miss it. Everyone here has been so supportive and great.

Will you keep dancing now?
Aiden:
Yeah, at gas stations! Starbucks and The Coffee Bean! And In-N-Out Burger.
Edyta: I am not up for that. [laughs]
Aiden: Anyone who sees me now will see me dancing out there and everywhere — out on the streets, in the park.

Will you two keep in touch?
Edyta:
Oh, definitely we live in the same town, so we’ll hang out, And this guy knows how to cook, so he still has to cook for me,
Aiden: I’ll be back for the finale, too.
