Lipstick Jungle star’s brush with danger on African visit

LipstickJungle0208.jpg His stint on NBC may have seemed like a jungle, but Andrew McCarthy couldn’t have predicted his wild and scary encounter in Ethiopia. While on assignment recently for travel magazine Afar, the former Lipstick Jungle actor was accosted by an armed guard at the Lalibela church for entering without documentation. Andrew had left his ticket to visit the historic church in his hotel room -- and paid the price for his oversight. "His gun [was] pointed at my back. I thought his reaction to my offense was extreme,” he writes. Fortunately, with help from some kind-hearted locals, Andrew was soon let go and left unharmed.
