The Biggest Loser: What you didn’t see!

BiggestLoser1007.jpg Viewers chose to give Amanda Arlauskas a chance to change her life during last season's Biggest Loser finale. Now the 20-year-old nursing student is giving InTouchWeekly.com readers all the exclusive behind-the-scenes dish every week! The ninth episode became the most stressful of the season after the contestants found out that not one, but two people would be going home after the weigh-in. "This week was nerve-wracking because I was fighting to stay above two lines," Amanda tells In Touch. But, when her 5-pound weight loss wasn't enough to keep her afloat, she found herself fighting for survival against her friend, Shay. "It was definitely scariest to be below the yellow line with Shay," she adds.

What has been the aftermath of Shay going home instead of you?
Amanda: I've gotten a lot of flack for it. Some people have been very supportive of my decision to fight hard and stay strong. But I also heard from a lot of people that I was a bad person for doing that and that Shay deserved to be there more because she was heavier. So, it's been a shaky day.

Well, I definitely think you did the right thing, it's every person for themselves on this show.
Amanda: Yeah, we were told from day one that we all deserved to be there, it didn't matter if you were 400 pounds or 200 pounds.

How was this week different, knowing that two people were going home?
Amanda: You want to do things differently, but you really can't because each week you do everything you possible can to stay. Although, this week was a bit more nerve-wracking because, instead of having only two chances of falling below, you now have three chances. It makes everyone a little more edgy and nervous. We were all scared, I think.

Why did you have to sit out the pop challenge?
Amanda: I've been suffering from shin splints for a while. And the morning of the challenge I was having really bad shin issues and the medics called in the doctor. He thought it might be a stress fracture so he put me in a boot. Because that challenge involved running and jumping, he wanted me to sit it out.

Did that upset you?
Amanda: I was very frustrated. I'd been fighting against those shin splints for weeks and he made me sit out such an important challenge. I could have won that 1-pound advantage. I was so unhappy. I'm a competitor and I don't like sitting out of things. I think I could have fought through the pain and competed.

When did you steal the gym equipment? How did you pull it off?
Amanda: Rebecca and Daniel went up to the gym when it was dark out. I was not in the room at the time it happened. They were sneaking around while Shay stood by the door watching. I thought it was a great idea.

How late did you stay up to secretly work out?
Amanda: We would stay up into the early hours of the morning. We always had to wait until we knew that everyone else was asleep, so we usually didn't start until 11 p.m. or midnight. They had no idea we were doing it but eventually they caught on.

What did you think when you watched and heard Jillian and Bob's conversation about Shay needing to stay?
Amanda: I was frustrated when I saw that. She told us a different story every day. When we were in Washington, D.C., she gave me so much crap about not fighting to stay in the game. Then all of a sudden to see Jillian convince Bob that Shay needed to be there more than the rest of us was extremely frustrating. It was totally hypocritical since it was the complete opposite of what she always told us to do. And I am kind of annoyed about how she tried to convince Bob that Shay needed to stay. We all have the tools for losing weight. We all know how to exercise and eat right, so anyone who got sent home should be able to know how to do it at home.

What should we be looking for next week?
Amanda: Next week is our makeover episode. I was so excited to make it to this point. I couldn't wait for the makeover. I made it so far and it was great. We had the pleasure of meeting with Tim Gunn and Tabatha from Salon Takeover, and we had a blast. We also got to see our families. And the challenge is the craziest, scariest one yet, in my opinion. It's a great episode. I'm excited to see it!
