Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson win big at the American Music Awards
She is just a teen, but Taylor Swift beat out even the late legend Michael Jackson when she took home the top prize, Artist of the Year, at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on November 22. But the gracious country crooner paid homage to the King of Pop, who died suddenly of cardiac arrest in June, in her acceptance speech. “To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson, who we'll miss and love forever, is an unimaginable honor. And I just want to say I'm sending my love to the Jackson family," Taylor said via satellite from London, where she is scheduled to perform on November 23. Though he lost the Artist of the Year award, Michael was not slighted at the star-studded show -- the late singer won four awards, which were accepted by brother Jermaine. “We’re doing fine. We get our strength from each other,” Jermaine told In Touch when asked at the event how the family is coping with Michael’s tragic death. Sister Janet also shined at the show with her high-energy opening performance.
