Mischa Barton hospitalized
Her career may be on the rebound, but Mischa Barton’s personal life doesn’t seem so picture-perfect. The troubled starlet — who portrays a struggling model on The CW’s new fall show The Beautiful Life — was transferred from her LA home to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on July 15, where she was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold. Authorities responded to a non-911 call from the actress’ residence earlier that afternoon, prompting a squad car to assist her with a “medical issue.” According to state law, the hospital can keep her involuntarily for up to 72 hours.
Mischa had intended to fly to New York for the opening of her new horror flick, Homecoming, but a spokesperson for the film confirmed her absence to In Touch. “She is not able to attend tonight’s premiere,” the rep said on July 16. This is not the former O.C. star’s first encounter with the Los Angeles Police Department. Mischa was arrested in West Hollywood for driving without a valid license under the influence of alcohol in December 2007.
