In Touch Exclusive:
Jewel’s dancing injury could land her in a wheelchair!
In her first exclusive interview after the news broke today that she withdrew from Dancing With the Stars, Jewel tells In Touch she has a fractured tibia in both legs and it was more serious that she originally thought. “I am on crutches and if my right leg gets worse, I will be in a wheelchair.”
At the advice of her physical therapist, Jewel took a break from dancing in order to allow the tendonitis in both knees to heal. “I can cha-cha with the best of them,” she said in a statement issued by ABC in late February. “Don’t count me out as I am in this for the long run,” she added. But when the singer went to see her doctor after the pain continued, she found out that she wouldn’t be able to continue dancing. “I went in and they gave me an MRI just to be sure,” Jewel tells In Touch. “I did my MRI and pulled up my pant leg to get my shot, and the doctor came in and said, ‘You are finished, you can not dance and you can not walk.’ ”
