Wesley Snipes gets sentenced to three years in prison
In a shocking turn of events, Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison for willfully failing to file a tax return for three years. It was the maximum penalty sought by prosecutors and U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges handed down the harsh sentence because he said the actor exhibited a "history of contempt over a period of time" for U.S. tax laws. Despite letters from Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington attesting to Wesley's good character, no leniency was granted to the actor. Wesley was acquitted in February of charges including felony tax fraud and conspiracy. He will remain free until notified that he had to surrender to authorities.
